Link Love: Not Martha

So I went to Alt Summit in January with Meg and Lauren.  Now, I’m a blog reader but I forget that they can be celebrities, even if they are super famous and read by scores and scads of people.  (How was I supposed to know who Dooce is if I don’t read her?!?)

But there are a few of my own personal celebrities that I love whom attended Alt.  One of them was Megan from Not Martha.

When I saw Not Martha was going to be at Alt, I squeed because I so love her.  LOVE.  I have no idea how I found her blog, but I have a feeling it when I was on a quest for fun Christmas gifts and discovered these AMAZING pies in a jar.  Regardless, she’s amazing.

(BABY PIE!)

When I met Not Martha, she was just this adorable lady that came up and chatted with Meg after we’d been out having dinner and beer at a jazz bar. I don’t drink anymore and was a little buzzy, so I’m very glad I didn’t know who she was until Meg turned to me after she’d left and was like, “That was Not Martha, dummy.”  Because I would have screamed and jumped on her and smashed her to tiny little fabulously creative bits right there in the hotel lobby.

(I revealed this to her the next day when I met her again. I’m all class.)

Now why does this lady reduce me to screechy fangirl assaults?  Because of posts like this about crazy creative Halloween projects. Or flower brooches.  (With learning updates!) Or a holiday guide based on products she’s done over the last year. Or teeny tiny gingerbread houses. Or a MEAT HAND!! All of her projects, whether they are original or based off of something she found, make you want to immediately go out and try it on your own. Because she not only makes it easy, but admits when they don’t work as well as she wants. As a Messy Girl, I appreciate that.

(MEAT HAND. I alternately want to eat this and poke it with a stick.)

Her blog is very simple and clean so it really showcases her great pictures and tutorials.  Because you don’t need fanciness when you’re this good.

Megan also regularly posts links to things found around the internet for topics like “craft” or “technology” or “food”, thereby providing you with more amazing projects, products, recipes and inspiration. Isn’t that nice of her?

Because she really IS nice.  She didn’t run away when I told her I adored her and reminded me that I could make the gingerbread houses out of sugar cookies (when I said Jethro wouldn’t let me make them because I don’t even like gingerbread). Sweet, gracious AND a crafty enabler. Love it.

So go check out Not Martha and them come back here and tell me what you think.  (Unless you don’t like what you see.  Because then we’re not friends anymore.)

Thanks for the recommendation! And it’s awesome that she’s nice. Although if someone assaulted me because I was fabulous I think I’d be terribly flattered.

pies in little jars?? great googly moogly.

I love how many times I read “because I am lazy” while perusing her blog just a few minutes. I think she might deserve a spot in my reader.

You said “great googly moogly.” I heart you.

And she definitely does. I knew you, out of everybody would appreciate the meat hand. (MEAT….)

You’re definitely welcome! I’m thinking of making a brooch like that as a party favor, it’s SO easy and cute…
